Why Become a Member?
Membership says a lot about you
Being a member of the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists and using the designation P.Ag. or Tech. Ag. indicates to those with whom you come in contact that you take a professional approach to your work and your career. It means that you are committed to maintaining a standard of competence, fairness, and integrity. It shows that you are willing to be accountable and responsible for the advice you provide and the work you do. It demonstrates to your clients, customers, employer and the public that they can have confidence in your skills.
Membership gives you connections
By being a member of the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists, you have the opportunity to meet people in a broad cross-section of the agri-food industry. Through MIA, you can connect with people who may be looking for someone with your expertise, or you can find expertise that will be helpful to you in your work.
Membership keeps you current
Through membership in the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists, you can participate in meetings and programs that keep you abreast of the latest developments and issues in the industry in which you work. Membership offers you a forum in which to exchange ideas. The quarterly newsletter of the Institute, The Agrologist, covers timely topics on research, current events and industry developments that keep you informed.
Membership helps you grow
By participating in activities related to the profession, either by volunteering within MIA or in public forums where the expertise of agrologists is sought, you can improve your leadership, communication and organizational skills.
And remember, if you're not a member, you are not legally entitled to practise agrology in the Province of Manitoba.
