How to Register
To become a registered member of the MIA, the .pdf files on this page will be useful to you.
For your convenience applications information and forms are downloadable.
References
References should be sent directly to the MIA. The statements should qualify the individual (I have known the applicant for x period of time, the capacity of your reference (former employer, teacher, etc) and whatever comments follow. The two references from Professional Agrologists should not include statements such as "the applicant is a family friend, or the applicant is a friend of mine..", as these may be seen as biased. If you are internationally educated, you only need to have one personal (non-professional) reference.
If you wish to include supplementary statements or material such as a resume or if you have specific work experience(s) that needs to be described in more detail you can submit along with your other documents.
Application Timelines
Applications for registration are received at any time. Processing of the application including referral to the MIA Membership Committee and Board of Examiners will usually occur within four to six weeks after all of the application information and registration payment is received. The committee's recommendations are referred to the MIA Council on a regular basis and you will be informed of the decision shortly after a decision is made. International applications take longer to process and because each situation is different wait times do vary. Applicants should anticipate the process will take several weeks.
